Ngāti Hei, Mana Whenua along with Hauraki representatives, re-occupied the Whenuakite Station to prevent the sale by Landcorp of this piece of land identified as part of the iwi’s Treaty settlement. After a week-long occupation, Landcorp withdrew the property from sale. Nonetheless, Ngāti Hei occupied the land for over a month.
